Ferry from Amalfi to Positano
Walk to Amalfi harbor via the tunnel path (10 min). Ferry departs approximately 9:40 AM - the first departure of the day.
Positano lower town strategy: Positano is built vertically on a cliff. The plan keeps you near the waterfront. Spiaggia Grande is at sea level. Beach chairs and umbrellas are available for hire. The lower promenade (Via del Brigantino) runs flat along the beachfront. Skip the upper village (Via Colombo) unless specifically wanted - the stairs up are significant.
Lunch at Fornillo Beach
Walk or take the free shuttle boat from the main pier to Fornillo Beach. This is the festival beach for the evening - lunch here scopes the location in daylight.
Fornillo Beach + Festival Build-Up
Stay on Fornillo Beach or return to lower Positano. Festival setup begins late afternoon - Fornillo gets festive by 5 PM. No need to leave the beach.
Festa del Pesce + Return
Festa del Pesce from approximately 17:00 - procession, boats, grilled fish, dancing on Fornillo Beach.
Last ferry Positano to Amalfi: approximately 19:05 - confirm exact Sep 26 timetable before the day. If the last ferry is missed: SITA bus from Via Cristoforo Colombo to Amalfi around 22:00, approximately 40 minutes with switchbacks. Walk home from Amalfi: 10 min.
Practical Notes
- Stair note on Positano: getting anywhere in the upper town involves significant stairs. The waterfront strategy above minimizes the worst of it.
- Book the Saturday morning ferry 5-7 days ahead via Ferryhopper or Travelmar direct.
- Free shuttle boat from the main pier to Fornillo removes the stair-path option entirely - use it.
- Confirm exact Sep 26 last-ferry time (approximately 19:05) when booking - Sunday-adjacent schedules can shift.
