Positano + Festa del Pesce

Ferry to Positano. Stay for the festival.

Anchor Event
Festa del Pesce - Fornillo Beach, Positano
Last Saturday of September every year - in 2026 that is Sep 26. Opens around 17:00 with a procession to the pier, sangria send-off, and boat escorts to Fornillo Beach. Grilled fish, music, and dancing follow. Free entry; charity donations welcome.
Morning

Ferry from Amalfi to Positano

Walk to Amalfi harbor via the tunnel path (10 min). Ferry departs approximately 9:40 AM - the first departure of the day.

Journey: 15-17 minutes. Fare: EUR 10-14 / USD 11-16 per person one-way. Book online a few days ahead - Saturday morning ferries fill up. Check Ferryhopper or Travelmar. Ferry pier lands at Spiaggia Grande (main beach) - no stairs from the pier.

Positano lower town strategy: Positano is built vertically on a cliff. The plan keeps you near the waterfront. Spiaggia Grande is at sea level. Beach chairs and umbrellas are available for hire. The lower promenade (Via del Brigantino) runs flat along the beachfront. Skip the upper village (Via Colombo) unless specifically wanted - the stairs up are significant.

Midday

Lunch at Fornillo Beach

Walk or take the free shuttle boat from the main pier to Fornillo Beach. This is the festival beach for the evening - lunch here scopes the location in daylight.

Afternoon

Fornillo Beach + Festival Build-Up

Stay on Fornillo Beach or return to lower Positano. Festival setup begins late afternoon - Fornillo gets festive by 5 PM. No need to leave the beach.

Evening

Festa del Pesce + Return

Festa del Pesce from approximately 17:00 - procession, boats, grilled fish, dancing on Fornillo Beach.

Last ferry Positano to Amalfi: approximately 19:05 - confirm exact Sep 26 timetable before the day. If the last ferry is missed: SITA bus from Via Cristoforo Colombo to Amalfi around 22:00, approximately 40 minutes with switchbacks. Walk home from Amalfi: 10 min.

Lunch
Fornillo Beach, Positano - Open 9 AM to 6 PM
Right on the festival beach. Gragnano pasta, grilled fish, and fresh salads. Eating lunch here puts you at the festival location before the crowds arrive - scope it in daylight, then stay for the evening.
EUR 30-50 / USD 33-55 per person
